North Carolinians,
I know some of you may be feeling demoralized about the passage of Amendment One. I can relate. Back in 2008, I volunteered with the “No on 8” campaign here in California, and even while many of my friends were celebrating the election of President Obama, I was devastated about the passage of Prop 8.
But it’s four years later now. The legal battle against Prop 8 continues, with many more successes than failures. And in four years the beliefs of many Californians and Americans have begun to change.
So when you are feeling low, try to remember the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who said, “Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice.”
Stay strong. Keep fighting. Justice is just beyond the bend.
